To bring an expired MYM subscriber back, offer a new reason to join: a series that matches their interests, a clearer subscription or content that was missing during their first visit. “When are you coming back?” tells them nothing about what they will receive.
The objective
Offer a useful return with a real update and a clear choice. First confirm that the subscription has expired, respect MYM's contact options and measure returns without automatically attributing every payment to the message.

Check subscription status and purchase history
A former subscriber is a fan whose subscription has ended. They can no longer view the blurred profile content, but purchased media remains available. Never imply they must subscribe again to recover something they already bought.
A fan who only disabled renewal may still be subscribed until the paid period ends. Their current experience remains the priority. A return campaign begins after expiry, not when you discover that someone intends to leave.
Review useful information: the last subscription, previous purchases, expressed preferences and any unresolved complaint. Keep what helps you respond accurately. There is no need to invent a personal explanation for the departure or collect unrelated details.
- The subscription has actually ended.
- Previously purchased content is identified.
- A request to stop messages is respected.
- An earlier problem has been resolved before another offer.
- The announced content exists and its access conditions are clear.
For subscribers who are still active, work on giving them a reason to renew. This keeps two different stages of the subscriber journey separate.
Choose one reason to return for each group
Do not send one campaign to every former subscriber. Someone who left last week still knows the feed. Someone absent for months needs a quick explanation of what changed. A buyer who enjoyed a particular series may mainly care about its next installment.
| Group | Useful information | Offer to prepare |
|---|---|---|
| Recent departure, reason unknown | No identified problem or specific preference. | A clearly described new release on the feed. |
| Previous buyer of a series | Content already owned and an interest they expressed. | A real continuation, clearly labeled as included or separately paid. |
| Longer absence | Concrete changes since the fan left. | A preview of the new program and included content. |
These groups help make the message relevant; they are not permanent labels. If you do not know someone's preferences, keep the announcement general. False personalization is less useful than an honest update.
Start with a release that has visible value without a discount. A reduction can support a good offer, but it does not create a reason to stay after returning. Check that your MYM bio accurately describes the offer you are presenting.
Write a short message with clear access conditions
MYM provides for offers or gifts to former subscribers every seven days through its messaging. That option does not mean everybody needs a weekly message. Check eligibility in your account and use the contact when there is genuinely useful information to share.
A new included series
“I have started a new feed series about [theme]. The first posts are already available and included in the subscription. If you enjoy this format, the program is on my profile.”
A continuation of their interest
“You enjoyed [series], so I wanted to let you know its next part is ready: [accurate description]. It is sold separately from the subscription. I wanted that to be clear before you return.”
A defined introductory offer
“To explore the new program, I am offering [actual reduction] for [specific period], available until [real date]. The subscription then returns to [price]. Included content is described on my profile.”
Replace the brackets with verified information. If something is not ready, remove it instead of promising it. The message should remain accurate if the fan opens it several days after delivery.
For separately paid media in the MYM catalog, a non-subscriber must subscribe before purchasing. Do not present the media price as the entire access cost if a subscription is also required. Make both amounts clear before asking for a decision.
Set a sensible cadence and clear discount terms
Begin with a small group you can follow. Record the date and offer. If nobody replies, do not keep rewriting the same invitation. A second contact should respect the permitted interval and provide something new, rather than simply become more insistent.
If someone refuses or asks not to receive messages, respect the request. If they raise an earlier problem, resolve it before selling. Recovering a payment at any cost is not a useful objective.
Before offering a discount, check its conditions, duration and the fan's eligibility. Do not promise a new-customer offer to a former subscriber without verification. Keep the regular price visible so the decision makes sense beyond the first period.
The guide to MYM subscription promotions helps assess the cost. Avoid fake countdowns and claims of limited places when no real limit exists.
Measure returns and what happens afterwards
Keep a simple record: contacted group, date, message, number of people, subscriptions observed within a chosen window, net revenue and time spent. A fourteen-day window can organize your reporting. It is not a MYM attribution rule or evidence of causation.
Illustrative campaign record
You contact 40 former subscribers. Within fourteen days, 5 subscribe again: 12.5% of the group. You observe €40 in net subscription revenue and €20 in net media revenue, giving €60. With one hour valued at €20, the tracked contribution is €40 before other costs not included here.
Discounts are already reflected in collected amounts, so do not deduct them twice. Treat refunds consistently across groups. Check later renewals as well: five one-month returns are not necessarily equivalent to five subscribers who stay.
A return after a message can have another cause, such as a public post the fan saw in between. With sufficient volume, a comparable group that receives no message can help interpret the difference. On a small account, describe “returns observed after contact” without claiming the campaign caused all the revenue.
If few people return, examine the new offer and its access conditions first. Increasing message volume does not automatically create interest. A useful campaign can also show that the proposed content needs to change.
Prepare the welcome after the return
Once the fan subscribes again, keep instructions and the current media catalog consistent in Unly. Former-subscriber selection and contact conditions are checked in MYM. A conversation follow-up is different from a subscription return campaign.
